There are a lot of good books available for all levels, however I usually like starting with John Thompson parts 1 and 2 for beginners because the two middle octaves are taught more systematically and effectively through the books. After students master the two parts of J. Thompson, I recommend that students continue with Alfred’s books as different levels of prep courses and also Piano Adventures series by Nancy and Randall Faber. For students interested in RCM evaluation system, I teach RCM material and books as continuations to developing technical and performance skills.
